The HOME Program
Project
HOME is the CDC's Affordable Housing Program. Our Housing Counseling
services are for any income. However, our program services
concentrate on families that gross 80% of the median income
or less for the area adjusted for family size. The CDC currently
builds and sells homes in the $85,000 to $110,000 range. We
receive referrals from Banks, Habitat for Humanity, City of
Wilmington, Wilmington Housing Finance and Development, other
housing providers and word of mouth. We have an active outreach
program that provides the CDC with the opportunity to present
home ownership information to other agencies, churches, and
residents of public housing developments.
Funding Source
Federal, State and Local Funds are the main sources of
funding for Project Home. Construction and counseling services
are provided through the use of Home Dollars and Community
Development Block Grant (CDBG) dollars respectively. The
construction dollars act as a revolving fund which gives
us the ability to continue to provide City and County residents
with affordable housing opportunities on a continuous basis.
