The Cape Fear Regional CDC Home Ownership Counseling Program is designed to provide counseling in group settings as well as on-on-one with those who are interested in becoming first-time homebuyers or who are currently homeowners. Through our program, the potential homeowner will learn the process of buying a home from the initial decision to purchase a home to the loan closing. we also address post-purchase issues that the homeowner may encounter after moving into their home. Our program includes counseling and education to address credit issues, designing and implementing a reasonable and attainable budget, and developing financial disciplines to establish saving for a first home or for emergencies.
An application is the initial step for all of our counseling services. Once the application is completed, a Housing Counselor reviews it. A meeting is then scheduled with the prospective homebuyer to review the application, determine a goal, address credit issues and establish a plan to reach their goal of home ownership.
